MUSIC EDUCATORS PROGRAM
Those enrolled in the Enrichment Programs receive a Certificate of Completion of Hours after each year of study and upon completion of tuition payments.
Trainees wishing to continue towards Teacher Certification must apply for the Teacher Training 2 year program.
Some people who don’t need or want a Teaching Certificate but would like further study, choose to take the Enrichment Program repeatedly.

Graduation is dependent on proficiency.
When you have the skills to impart the essence of the Work, through touch and language, it is time for you to graduate.
Graduation does not mean that you’ve ‘got it’, but that you have the necessary skills to recognize when you are inside the field of the Work and when you are not - and the conscience to get yourself back on track. It means you are ready to begin your life-long practice, which is actually how you learn the Work.
The requirements for graduation are:
attendance of a minimum of 3 years and 150 Events (combination of in-person and online)
payment of the full tuition cost
teaching proficiency, as determined by the Alexander Alliance International Directors
deep understanding and personal embodiment and application of the principles of the Work
Not everyone becomes proficient within the same time span, and everyone has different schedules for training. Graduation is determined by the CAS/AAI Directors, in discussion with the individual trainee. Most people take about four years, some people take six years, some take three - you will find the ideal timing for you.
If a Trainee has completed tuition payments, but is not yet proficient, they may study an additional number of Events, to be determined by the CAS Director, possibly at no additional cost, depending on the amount of additional study required.
Graduates may apply for additional study for free within one year following graduation to address additional questions as needed - to be determined by the CAS Director. This post-graduate mentoring year is specifically designed for students who are actively teaching. It is meant to be used as support once you are out teaching and are able to identify where you may have confusions or need a deeper skill set, or perhaps where you feel a bit lost, or if you find yourself overworking in some way. All free post graduate study is limited and must be approved by the CAS Director.
Graduates who are not actively teaching, or perhaps never intend to teach, are welcome to return for Graduate Studies, paying 50% tuition for each regular training event. All graduates pay the Graduate Rate for all Special Events.
Certification
Graduation from CAS is all that is required to legally become a Certified Alexander Technique Teacher. Graduates may then choose to apply for membership in the Alexander professional organizations, ATI or AmSAT. These organizations offer useful community and professional support, but DO NOT actually “certify” teachers, and membership is not required in order legally become an Alexander Teacher.
In some states, teachers may be required to be licensed to use their hands. Please become informed about your own state requirements. You have sole responsibility for complying with your state requirements for the use of touch. In many states, Alexander is exempt from massage therapist licensure, as it is in the category of movement education, rather than therapy.
