Why take a Course? After all, you get a a lot of great information and experience from workshops and lessons. But what you don’t necessarily get is the structure and support needed to deeply integrate and apply all of that great new information.
CAS offers Courses for Personal Exploration and for Professional Development. Courses take 1 - 2 years, meeting 4 - 8 times total, depending on the theme. Courses offer CEU’s as well, if your profession requires credits.
CAS also offers Alexander Technique Post-Graduate Workshops and Courses. (Click for more information.)
CAS Courses are held in Santa Fe, NM, New York City, or Portland, OR or in your community - contact us if you are interested in hosting a Course in your city.
Some people want a deep, extended, personal exploration into the Principles of the Work, but are not necessarily interested in Teacher Training. They are invited to join the Teacher Training Program, and be deeply immersed in our community for 4 years, without having to fulfill Teaching Proficiency, graduating with a Certificate of Completion.
Personal Exploration Courses - we call them the “EXPLORER’S COURSES” - are designed to offer you a deep, often life-altering, window to your Self. CAS offers 3 “Explorers” Courses, in addition to our most popular Explorer’s Course - Living in a Body™:
Being You is a 100 hour course which offers you tools for noticing and releasing habits of belief and behavior which limit your potential and growth. It is open to everyone. No previous experience is necessary.
Using the principles of Alexander Technique, you will learn how to recognize your habitual responses and ways of being, and to transform those habits to choice. What do you actually want? How do you override your conditioning and beliefs to live your new choices?
Alexander’s Work applies to you as a physical, emotional, mental, energetic being. In Being You, you will address all of these expressions of you, as they interweave to create your life.
You will learn how to help yourself in the moments you need it the most - in a stressful moment at work, or a performance, or a challenging conversation - or in moments of intimacy and gratitude - or in times of fear, awe, and potential.
Embodying Grace is a 150 hour training for personal & professional enrichment, exploring alternative Ways of Knowing, Sacred Geometry, and the Physics of Reality Manifestation.
Grace is coherent, creative, consciousness. Grace is a resonance, a ‘channel’ for accessing information and potential beyond your current knowledge and experience. It is our Nature to be in resonance with Grace - to Embody Grace.
In this course, we will explore how and why we create ‘interference’ with this innate resonance. What beliefs, perspectives, fears, and expectations restrict our ability to fully embrace our own ‘state of Grace’?
How do we bring our body and mind into a neutral state of being - to let go of our reactions so we can ask clearly for what we actually desire.
We will explore the fields of reality creation, memes, Matrix Energetics®, sacred geometry, Deep Imagery®, Contemporary Alexander Work, MAP, Ways of Knowing intuitive training, breath, and process artwork in our process of discovery.
This course is designed for anyone with a willingness and desire to look deeper into the beliefs and behaviors underlying their life patterns. It is also particularly useful for teachers, therapists, bodyworkers, healers, and those who help others. No previous experience is necessary.
The 40 hour BBS Course offers detailed, experiential information about the use and health of your voice and breath.
Based on a fusion of Feldenkrais, vocal science, yoga, Doaist movements, and decades of private voice studio teaching, renowned voice teacher Adriana Hardy has developed a concise and practical blend of experiential material for those wanting to understand the relationship between the organization of the body, the use (functional or dysfunctional) of the breath, and quality and ease of sound.
BBS is an ideal study for singers, speakers, actors, wind instrumentalists, and for those who teach them. Participants will have opportunities for individual instruction, identifying the ways in which you interfere with yourself while singing/speaking/playing, and how to change that interference.
BBS is compatible with all technical styles, helping you understand the instrument upon which you apply your technique. It is ideal for both young artists who are currently building a foundational technique as well as those who are already enjoying professional careers.
Studying BBS is all about you – not your repertoire or auditions or career. So consider taking some time to invest in you – your instrument – your being. It is essential that you, as an artist, take care of your instrument, of yourself. BBS workshops teach you how to do that.
There are 2 BBS Modules, totaling 40 hours.
Our most popular courses, worldwide, are Living in a Body™, and Living in a Body of Choice™. Translated into multiple languages, these courses offer a highly experiential adventure into our inherent design.
Professional Development Courses are designed for those already established in a professional field who are interested in broadening and deepening their skill and artistry. All Courses offer CEU’s.
CAS Professional Development Courses:
in addition to our most popular CEU course, Living in a Body™

CAREER ENRICHMENT CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
IN CONTEMPORARY ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE
HIGH TOUCH 1 is a one year career enrichment certification program in the Alexander Technique for all those who support, move, nurture, educate, and rehabilitate others directly through touch.
Through his hands, FM Alexander was able to access people’s innate coordination, enabling them to move comfortably and freely. He found a way to bring all of this about without any force. To most it felt totally magical. But it wasn’t. It was skill. It was technique. It was “high touch”. And you can learn this too.
Ideal for movement educators, somatic practitioners, physical, occupational, & speech therapists, massage therapists, nurses, physicians, osteopaths, chiropractors, hospice workers, and performing arts educators.
You will graduate this course with more confidence, with more skill, with deeper understanding, and with hands that are refined, receptive, more curious, more communicative, and more effective.
You will learn how to take better care of yourself, while you work. You will become freer, more powerful, and more beautiful; transforming your skill from technique to artistry.
Develop a profoundly sophisticated, communicative, and skilled touch. Learn to quiet yourself, allowing your hands to listen deeply to another.
We can’t give support, nurturance, comfort, power and ease through our hands unless we are, in ourselves, supported, well nurtured, comfortable, powerful, and at ease. You will learn how to do this for yourself.
Your nervous system uses your ‘map’, your beliefs about your inherent design, to organize your coordination – whether or not those beliefs are accurate! Learn to teach Body Mapping to individuals and groups.
Host a HIGH TOUCH 1 Course in your city. At CAS, we are dedicated to bringing the Work to you - wherever you live.
HIGH TOUCH 2 is designed to broaden the range of skills that you bring to your practice. Often, in our professional training programs, we focus our attention on the techniques and skills necessary for proficiency, without having the time to explore the range of supportive skills which create an effective and rewarding practice. HIGH TOUCH 2 gives you the opportunity to fill in the gaps.
The most effective practitioners use a blend of tools to support their main areas of expertise, continually broadening their skill and knowledge throughout their careers. This can include studying complementary fields, or refining their own personal practices, such as meditation, hand skills, accessing intuitive channels, breathing, and awareness.
High Touch Level 2 offers those who work with their hands a broader, deeper base of personal knowledge and experience.
Learn fundamental tools for teaching groups, and for designing games and group experiences which offer a direct experience of your workshop themes.
Learn to access your intuitive ways of knowing as a reliable and consistent tool to be used in combination with your knowledge.
Learn how your own breath and vocal patterns may be limiting your ability to communicate at the most sensitive levels with your clients. Also, learn to identify common breathing and sounding issues in your clientele, allowing your work with them to have even greater benefit.
Learn how you embody - literally wear, 6 fundamental “bodies” - image, social, sexual, inner, belief, and spiritual. Identify patterns and belief that we have ‘inherited’, and how to release any patterns that do not resonant with who you choose to be at this point in time.
