Exciting Developmental-Movement workshop series

based on the writings of Professor Raymond Dart

led by Delia Rosenboom

A unique opportunity to explore evolutionary and developmental movement patterns, as outlined by Professor R. Dart,  as a powerful way of working on oneself,  using the floor as a reflective and humbling teacher!

This  workshop series will equip you with insightful and potent tools to both work on yourself and pupils, skilfully combining Alexander's  principles with Dart’s insights. We will work progressively  over nine months, exploring  specific movements both with and against gravity,  whilst gaining an expanded understanding and experience of head-led activity,  Direction, Opposition, Individuation and more…..

This series will be divided into in-depth, themed blocks. Each week and each block will build on the material previously presented.

You will need space to lie in prone and semi-supine and will need a couple of small cushions.

Block 1: The Essentials of Prone

An introduction to Dart, and to working in prone as an essential tool to enhance primary control, bump start head-led movement, awaken the 'inner  wriggle' and to de-rotate habitual twists.

Block 2: Prone - Outside The Box

An opportunity to further develop  a practice of working in prone as an invaluable tool to address breathing, release flexor musculature, and to nourish and balance your energetic system.

Block 3: Exploring Our Upper Limbs

An opportunity to enhance shoulder/arm/hand organisation through the exploration of individuated and evolutionary-based movement,  whilst discovering our 'fishy fins' and our 'alligator elbows’ to widen, open and expand the upper limb girdle.

Block 4:  Exploring Our Lower Limbs

An opportunity to  refine hip/knee/foot organisation, promoting muscular and bony individuation whilst discovering our  ‘froggy legs’ as an expression of ‘Knees forwards  and away’.

Block 5:  Evolving Upwards

Progressive, developmental, anti-gravity movements,  venturing away from the security of the floor to explore foetal, muslim prayer, crawling, squatting,  degrees of monkey… and eventually full standing onto  tippy-toes!
