The Art and Business of AT - Expanding Your AT Skills & Practice

This 2 day experiential course offers practical tools for expanding your skill set and your Alexander Technique practice. 

Day 1, The ART, offers a wide range of new ways to use your hands and language, making it possible to easily teach students while they are engaged in activities of every kind - for example, with dancers and martial artists while in movement, with musicians while playing in rehearsal, with potters working at the wheel, with folks while they walk, cook a meal, or sing a song.  These new tools offer you a reliable way to take the Work away from the chair and even out of the room, without compromising the effectiveness and specificity of the Principles

Day 2, The BUSINESS, teaches you how to offer the Work in group settings, whether it’s an introductory workshop or ongoing group class. Teaching groups is an art form unto itself - it is so much more than having a group watch you work with an individual.  You will learn specific tools for creating a ‘group body’, and for designing group experiences of the Principles so that the student’s begin to understand and experience the Work before you even get your hands on!  We will also study the variety of elements which are needed to create a well-rounded and effective group experience.

Adding skill in these 2 arenas –  expanding the ability to use your hands skills and widening the situations in which you can effectively teach, and learning to create an effective experience of the Work in a group setting – will profoundly impact the ways that you can bring the Work into the World, while simultaneously building your own practice.
